Some Mexicans feel that death is a special occasion, but with elements of celebration, because the soul is passing into another life.

Some families build altars or small shrines in their homes. These altars usually have the Christian cross, statues or pictures of the Blessed Virgin Mary, pictures of deceased relatives and other persons, and scores of candles.

day of the dead is a time for people to remember relatives that have passed on.
people may leave some stuff at the persons grave and decorate it a bit
maybe by putting sugar skulls candles some people even leave food
people leave flowers.the list goes on and on.

DAY OF THE DEAD

the day of the dead is a holiday celebrated mainly in mexico and the mexican immagrant communit living in the united states.though the subject matter may be considered horrible from the view of other cultures,celebrants typically approach the day of the dead joyfully,and it occurs roughly at the same time as halloween,all saints day and souls day,the traditional mood is much brighter with emephasis on celebrating and honouring the lives of the dead.
